10月8日讯在爱奇艺的一档栏目中，刘建宏认为，国足应该大换血，把这支国家队80%的球员都换掉。

刘建宏说道：“我还有一点，甚至我这就也比较极端，当然这只是想想而已，就是把这支国家队80%的球员都换掉，换一帮年轻人。你为什么不现在上点年轻人让他们练呢？何必呢？这帮二十七八的、三十五六的，他还能怎么样？

我建议打完10月份的两场比赛，如果一看情况不妙，干脆国家队大换血。你们反正也不会踢成什么样了，中国足球未来也指不上你们了，我们就把这帮年轻人弄上来，让这帮年轻人把18强赛当成世界杯踢吧，然后提前接班，为下一届做准备。”

当黄健翔提问国足18强赛能赢几场时，刘建宏表示只能赢一场，他说道：“不一定主场能赢，可能客场能赢一场，比如之前客场赢泰国，主场赢不了。你真想吃人家的时候，你吃不下来，因为您没这牙口。我是觉得这支国家队拿过来排来排去，变不了日料，只能便当，吃一口得了。”
